When Health Minister Of State Opendi’s ‘Undercover Mission’ Paid Off

Some ministers are given ministerial posts but they just use it to get allowances, get comfortable monster cars and juicy salaries without delivering. However, yesterday, state minister for Health Sarah Achieng Opendi did the unbelievable.

With a variety of government hospitals around the country that are supposed to offer free services to the public, the minister decided to pay one a courtesy visit but this visit wasn’t an ordinary one. She disguised herself as a Muslim woman in a full body hijab, boarded a Boda boda and off she went to the China-Uganda friendship hospital in Naguru to receive treatment like any ordinary patient.

Despite that fact that services at the facility are supposed to be free, two medics demanded for a bribe before they attended to her.

The doctors asked for a bribe of shs100,000 and recommended a laboratory test and from there, another shs5,000 was asked of her to conduct the test.

The two, whose names couldn’t be unveiled were later arrested and taken to an unknown destination form where they will be charged with various criminal corruption related offences.

And she tells her story after the incidence in which some officials were nabbed for asking bribes.
