Prior to the Uganda Entertainment Awards gala, specifically during the launch of the 3rd edition a few months back, it was said that all winners will be walking home with not only an accolade but a cash prize of not less than 2million each.
Organisers promised that winners in the big categories like Video of the year, Male and Female Artiste of the year among others would be walking away with 5million shillings each while those in the ‘smaller categories’ like Best RnB, Best Dance Group, Best Comedy group and others, would be given shs2m each.
However, this was not the case last Saturday 9th September at Serena Hotel during the award ceremony as all the winners only walked home empty handed. Empty handed in the sense that they neither walked away with money nor the trophies.
We later found out that, actually it was only one trophy that winners used for posing with during the photo moments and when they walked off stage, they left it behind for others to also use for posing.
We couldn’t get any information from Kabs Haloha who has been the man behind the awards because his contract was terminated but all the winners walked away empty handed.
