Former opposition leader in Parliament and MP Budadiri County West Nathan Nandala Mafabi has condemned the political methods of Kyadondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine.
While speaking on national television, Mafabi did not sound happy at the recent events where Bobi Wine with other celebrities hit Kampala streets to demonstrate against the new taxes.
“Why is Bobi Wine rioting now, what was he doing in Parliament when the taxes were being passed?” Mafabi exclaimed.
He added, “MPs should acknowledge the fact that they messed up and should just apologize to the public.”
RnB singer Bebe Cool is also among the critics who were not amused by the recent demonstrations by celebrities against the same issue.
He said that musicians use social media more than anyone else and earn a lot from it so it is right for them to pay taxes.
“I was embarrassed by my friends who caused chaos in Kampala due to taxes. They have never been asked to pay taxes before and they still wan to get everything for free,” Bebe Cool pointed out.
Ugandan celebrities hit Kampala streets to demonstrate against the unpopular social media and mobile money tax on Wednesday.
The demonstration was organized by among others Hon. Kyagulanyi, who was joined by other musicians like A Pass, Nubian Lee, journalist Raymond Kataaha, Joel Ssenyonyi all clad in red t-shirts and caps as they shouted “This tax must go”.
